Why a strengths-based focus

Most development plans start with what's wrong. This one starts with what works.

CliftonStrengths identifies the patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that come most naturally to you. Building on those patterns — instead of forcing improvement on weaknesses — changes how people experience their work.

6×more likely to be engaged at work when using their strengths every day
3×more likely to report an excellent quality of life
34talent themes across four domains in the full assessment
Engagement and quality-of-life figures are from Gallup's published CliftonStrengths research.

Higher engagement

People who use their strengths every day are significantly more engaged and productive at work.

Better well-being

A strengths focus is linked to greater life satisfaction, better health, and stronger relationships.

Stronger teams

When a team knows each other's strengths, roles get clearer, conflict gets easier, and collaboration improves.

Founder & head coach

Joelle Ayoub

PharmDCACPAPhGallup-Certified Strengths Coach

Joelle founded Strengths in Motion after seeing, from inside healthcare, how much talent goes unused when people are only ever coached on their gaps. An associate professor and Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, she brings both to her work: the rigor of an educator and the perspective of someone who has built a career across roles.

Based in Southern California, she now leads workshops for organizations, university programs, and professional groups, and coaches individuals through leadership growth and career transitions — always starting from the same question: what do you naturally do well, and how do we put it in motion?

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is CliftonStrengths?

CliftonStrengths is Gallup's talent assessment. It identifies your natural patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving and ranks them across 34 themes, grouped into four domains: Executing, Influencing, Relationship Building, and Strategic Thinking. Coaching and workshops use those results as a shared language for how each person works best.

Do I need to take the CliftonStrengths assessment first?

Yes. Every engagement starts with the CliftonStrengths assessment, because the coaching and workshop content is built around your results. If you have already taken it, mention that in your message.

Is coaching virtual or in person?

Both. Strengths in Motion is based in Southern California. One-on-one coaching and career support are available virtually to clients anywhere, and workshops can be run virtually or on-site in California.

Who do you work with?

Individuals such as managers, healthcare leaders, clinicians, career changers, new graduates, and emerging leaders, and groups such as departments, healthcare systems, university programs, student cohorts, and professional associations.

What happens in a team workshop?

Workshops are tailored to the group. They typically include a group CliftonStrengths debrief, sessions on communication and collaboration, and leadership or engagement exercises, in formats built for departments, cohorts, and offsites. Groups range from a handful of people to 35 or more.

Is Strengths in Motion affiliated with Gallup?

No. Strengths in Motion Consulting is an independent practice led by Joelle Ayoub, a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach. Gallup and CliftonStrengths are registered trademarks of Gallup, Inc.
